Lesson 4: Dont Smoke, Please!第四课：禁止吸烟！1.Do you know when World No Tobacco Day is？你知道世界无烟日是什么时候吗？Do people in your family smoke？If so，what do you advise them to do？你的家人吸烟吗？如果吸烟，你建议他们做什么？

1.1World No Tobacco Day世界无烟日，专有名词，前不加定冠词the1.2if so如果是这样1.3advise动词，劝告；建议advise sb. to do sth.建议某人做某事。

The doctor advised him to give up smoking.医生建议他戒烟1.4advice名词，忠告;建议①advice 是不可数名词,意为“劝告、忠告、建议”,可用some, much, a little, a piece of, pieces of 等修饰:。

Im going to give you some advice.我要给你提一些建议The other students guess the illness and give advice.其他学生猜出疾病名称并给出建议。

②常用短语：ask sb. for advice 向某人征求意见ask for advice 征求意见follow/take sb.s advice采纳某人的意见give sb. some advice on sth.在某方面给某人一些建议

a piece of advice 一条建议2.Smoking is a bad habit. As a student, you should never smoke.吸烟是个坏习惯作为一名学生，你千万不能抽烟。

2.1a bad habit一个坏习惯3.Why is smoking harmful?为什么吸烟有害（健康）？3.1harmful形容词，有害的；导致损害的harmful→harm(名词，伤害)+-ful(形容词后缀)。

be harmful to=be bad for对…有害。do harm to对……造成损害。

③die out （家族、物种等)灭绝,绝迹4.6.2辨析 dead, die, dying,death这四个词都有“死”的意思,其用法区别如下①dead 是形容词,通常和 be 动词连用,表示死的状态。

Her parents are both dead.她的父母都已去世了②die 是瞬间动词,意为“死亡;断气”,指生命的结束,强调动作His grandpa died at the age of 80.他爷爷是 80 岁去世的。

需要注意的是die是短暂性动词,不能与时间段搭配如果表示“死了多长时间”要替换为 be deadThe old man has been dead for two years.那位老人去世已经两年了③dying是die的现在分词,常用作形容词,意为“垂死的;濒临死亡的”。

The patient is dying.那位病人奄奄一息了The dying soldier wants to take a last look at his country.那位奄奄一息的战士想看他的祖国最后一眼。

④death 是 die 的名词形式,意为“死;死亡”如: It makes me very sad when I think of my grandpas death.当我想起我祖父的死时，我就很难过。

5.If you smoke, you harm yourself, and youre also harming the people around you with your second-hand smoke.如果你吸烟，你既伤害你自己，你的二手烟也伤害了你周围的人。

7.What should we do?我们应该做什么？Never touch cigarettes. Whenever someone offers you a cigarette,you should always say no. Dont take that risk.不要接触香烟。

无论何时有人给你香烟，你都要拒绝别冒险尝试7.1Never touch cigarettes.是一个否定的祈使句，Dont take that risk也是7.2offer动词，(主动)拿给;给予;提出;表示；名词，提议。

用法①ofer 作动词:i.有“(主动)拿给;给予;提出”的意思,相当于give,接双宾语,offer sb. sth.= offer sth. to sb.Can you offer me some suggestions？你能给我一些建议吗？

A friend offers you cigarettes at a party.一个朋友在一次聚会上给你烟The young man offered the old man his own seat on the bus.那个年。

轻人在公共汽车上将自己的座位让给了那个老人ii.offer 后接不定式,表示“主动提出做某事”He offered to drive us to the airport,but we preferred to walk there.他主动提出开车送我们去机场，但我们宁愿走路去。

②ofer 作名词,表示“愿做某事或给予某物”(后接 of/to do sth.):Thank you for your kind offer of helping me.=Thank you for your kind offer to help me.谢谢你提供给我的帮助。

7.3risk动词，冒……的危险；名词，危险；风险take/run a risk冒险He risked his life to save the child.他冒着生命危险去救孩子at risk处境危险。

at the risk of doing sth.冒着做某事的危险at any risk无论冒什么危险take the risk of doing sth.冒险做某事8.When somebody talks about smoking, change the topic.当人们谈论吸烟时，转换话题。

8.1take about谈论，提及8.2change the topic轩换话题9.If your family members smoke, encourage them to stop smoking.。

如果的你家庭成员吸烟，鼓励他们戒烟It will be hard for them, but you should try explaining how important it is for their health.这对他们来说将会很困难，但是你应该尝试解释（戒烟）对他们的健康非常重要。

①作不及物动词,表示“尝试;努力”She never stops trying.她从来没有停止过努力I dont know whether I can succeed, but I will try.我不知道能否成功,但我要试试。

If you cant do it the first time, please try again.要是第一次做不成,就请再试一次②作及物动词,表示“试用;试验”Wont you try this new kind of soap？你不试用这种新肥皂吗？。

③常用短语：try on 试穿try out 试验;检验try ones best 尽某人最大的努力have a try 试一下④try to do sth.与try doing sth.区别i.try to do sth.表示“尽力做……;试图做……”。

The boy tried hard to catch hold of the branch,but failed.男孩竭力想抓住树枝,但没有成功I will try to get to the meeting on time.。

我会尽力按时到会ii.try doing sth.表示“试着做……”Why not try doing the experiment in another way?为什么不试着用另一种方法做这个实验呢？。

10.Eat more fruits and vegetables, do more exercise, and form good habits.多吃水果和蔬菜，多运动，养成良好的习惯10.1do more exercise多做运动。

do morning exercises做早操exercise作为可数名词①(一套)动作，体操；②习题，练习；作为不可数名词，意为“运动；锻炼”10.2form good habits养成良好的习惯10.3habit可数名词，习惯。

12.6present sth. to sb.给某人展示/呈现/介绍某物12.7put up"张贴",是"动词+副词"型短语,代词作其宾语时必须放在 put 和 up 中间12.8on the bulletin在布告栏上。
